GIVER'S QUEST
When God teaches us, he often uses stories to engage our hearts. The Giver Quest’s stories are designed to help people of all ages consider the truths of Advent and apply them to their lives.
Discussion Starters:
- What presents are you hoping to get this Christmas?
- What do you hope to be when you grow up? (Adults, you’re included in this!)
- What do you think the most important things are in life?
- How do you think you get the most important things in life?
- How can God give us hope when it feels like we aren’t getting the most important things in life?
We hope you enjoyed the first episode of Giver's Quest! Make sure you come back for episode 2 on December 6th!
prayer of the week
God,
Thank you for your promises. You have promised salvation, comfort, peace, friendship, and restoration. We often feel distant from those promises. Instead of salvation, we feel doom. Instead of comfort, we are haunted by fears. Instead of peace, we fight. Instead of friendship, we feel isolation. Instead of living restored to you, you feel distant.
When you feel distant, remind us that feeling is a lie. God, you came as a servant to your people to confirm your promises. You took on flesh to dwell with us. You have been faithful to the point of dying on the cross in my place. You have been faithful to triumph over death and live again on the other side. Because of your victory, we know you are with us forever.
You have proven your faithfulness, so help me trust you today. Help me trust your present power, so I might live differently. Give me joy in you on good days and bad. Give me peace in your presence. Be my secure hope.
Teach us to live in that hope and bring your kingdom hope into our broken world. Teach us to ground our ultimate hope in the coming kingdom that will never pass away.
Thank you for your faithfulness, the anchor of unshakable hope.
In your name we pray, Amen.
