Dear Lord,
There is no true and lasting joy apart from you. Thank you for seeing us in our great need and choosing to send what was most costly and precious to you, your son, Jesus. By his perfect life, death, and resurrection, he has opened the only way to be saved and have access to you as our heavenly father.
Thank you for inviting us into relationship with you, where we can experience a joy that is not tied to circumstances, our performance or empty hopes in this world. Please teach us to daily choose joy that is grounded in our growing dependence on you. Help us to increasingly let our emotions be led by the truths of your word and our confidence in you.
Give us your joy this Christmas, and may we be changed by it!
